AC Bluebird at Goodwood Spring Sprint 2023
We’re off!!

So, we started our motoring year with the annual Spring Sprint at Goodwood last Saturday. It is an event that I look forward to every year. As usual, it was a wet in the morning for the practice session, but then dried up over lunch for a sunny afternoon.

AC Bluebird performed very well, apart from slipping sideways at St Marys, coming out of the corner into Lavant Straight. Woodcote Corner always scares me and I brake too soon. The brakes were squealing a bit and almost ineffective, so I relied on the gears to slow the car.

As always, my friend Neil Fouracre arrived to support me and the ace Sim Driver Colin Wynn also turned up to cheered me on. The video of AC Bluebird at the start is provided by Colin, and the short video of Bluebird rounding Madgwick Corner was provided by Adrian Wood.

There was a great turnout on Saturday at Goodwood and a wide selection of cars. A Radical stormed round the circuit, with Alfa Romeos and Austin Healeys covering the same ground with grace and elegance. Then there were the indomitable Mini Coopers, which were a pleasure to watch. The camaraderie amongst the drivers is special at Goodwood. There are no issues, everyone supports each other. I was pleased to meet a number of people who had bought ‘Reckless!’ and told me how much they enjoyed it.

My motoring year started last Saturday at Goodwood and I hope to travel far and wide with AC Bluebird this year.
