AC Bluebird at JSW in prep for photo shoot.
Back at JSW

The start of a new year and AC Bluebird is back at JSW to be checked over before the Spring Sprint Race at Goodwood, but also, more importantly, to be prepared for another round of photo shoots at Gun Hill Studios next week. AC Bluebird was a bit dusty and a little grubby after her outing at Goodwood last October. A quick hose down from me and a lick of polish would not have been good enough before going under the studio lights in the Cove at Gun Hill. So JSW will do a thorough check of the car and give it a professional clean before transporting it over to the Studio.

AC Bluebird wreck, taken in 1967

Some of the photographs being taken at Gun Hill will feature in my book, when it is eventually published in March. My book, ‘Reckless’, covers the decline of the prototype Aceca VPL441 to become a discarded wreck, and the car’s full restoration as AC Bluebird, and her journey to the Mille Miglia.

Reckless!
The Fall and Rise of AC 'Bluebird'

By Kevin Shilling

The book about how a global star became a farmyard wreck – then, thanks to a full restoration, rose again onto the international stage.
